A Party And a Half

February 24, 2014
Hey y'all! this week has been a party and a half.  We had transfers and my new companion is Sister Morgan.  She's from Oregon and funny story she knows Ethan Collins.  He served in her area and he used to hang out with her family. But she's super sweet, super tall. She calls me her pocket size companion.

We also had to take cover for a tornado that didn't end up happening so that was pretty great.  We got a call from president about 10 o'clock at night and said there was only one place in the whole mission where there was going to be a tornado and we were that spot.  While he was telling us to take cover I was hanging out with window getting videos of the thunder and lightening storm.

We also ran into some pretty cool people while we were going to visit a member. it was such a nice day to sit outside and we decided to do some swinging because what else would you do on a beautiful day?? And while there we ran into a women whose name is Jenifer and she was hula hooping so we started to talk to her and she taught us the proper way to hula hoop- and yes there is a proper way. I'm not very good at it.. But while there a bunch of little black boys started to run up to us and started talking to us.  One little boy taught us to do his signature dance move. We got pretty good at it. So we decided to play with the kids for a little while and then we made up the game of the little kids jumping through the hoop and seeing how many people can go through at once. The record for those who are wondering is 3. After that we went to a cook out with come members and talked about Kolob.

The Hazel Green sisters slept over last night and we decided that our spiritual IQ is going up but our normal IQ totally going down. Last night I was telling them a story and instead of saying night time I said dark time.. I think the south is getting to me more then I thought haha

I love y'all so much and I hope y'all have a great week!

Hello favorites!!

This week has been pretty interesting. We got snowed on and that meant we aren't able to go out so for about 2 days- we were on lock down.. So we read a lot and ate a lot and tried to call people but they don't like to talk to us- sometimes haha.

We met a new lady this week and she's legit. her name is Denise and she's really nice. We should start teaching her soon. She was telling us how we re good luck charms and miracle workers. She's been looking for a new job so she doesn't have to work on Sundays.  While the elders were with her the manager at the new job called and said they wanted to meet with her later this week, but then we called her a couple of hours later and she said right after we called her the job called and asked if the could meet with her last Saturday! She is so precious! Our eternal - gator said to us this week " I am advocating for the church before I am even a member" And she wants us to teach her husband so that's super exciting!

I am staying in Tennessee for the next transfer and I will be getting my new companion on Wednesday, so next Monday I will tell you all about her. I am excited to see what happens this next transfer! There are a lot of things happening in our ward and I am super excited to be a part of it! The missionaries decided we are going to do a missionary night and have members come and have investigators come and we are going to do a fireside/ Movie game night so we will be planning that after transfers come. :)

I love y'all so much!

Hello! So this week was pretty great! We had zone conference and were got taught manners and how we need to act while we are at members homes. We also learned about how we need to be adding to our teaching pool everyday or we are going to run out of people to teach in like 5 seconds. We also learned that God plans and so should we. We learned the difference between being on A mission and being a missionary.

It has been crazy cold and I had to buy a new jacket to keep me from freezing but it's really cute and I love it- also it was half off! What is better then that?!

We met some new friends this week! Puppies and kitties! I would send y'all the picture BUT I forgot my thing to make my camera and the computer connect.. But I will send you them next week :)

Transfers are on Saturday and I guess we will see what happens there!

Short email this week :) Things are going great!

Love you!!

By the way, I really do hate the taste of white bread- something I realized while eating my PB&J this week...
Anyway...Hello loved ones! This week was great grand! We had zone training and we had splits with the STL- we found a lot of great people and helped someone redo their whole house!

So it's crazy to think that it's February! It feels like January just started but it's over and gone now! We had zone training and  that was pretty great!  We talked about how we need to keep each other be motivated and we need to keep the work up even when it's cold and there might be snow. We got a text on Tuesday morning saying if there is snow we can't drive the car so we got on a lot of layers and biked over to the church so we could do some media time. After that the snow stopped and the roads weren't bad so we drove to some less actives that are close to each other.

We went on splits with the Sister Training Leaders and we blitzed the area. We found some great people We are excited to see what happens with these people. We tracted into one lady and she wouldn't look us in the eye because she was worried that we were going to steal her soul... but we were able to laugh if off and we tracted into another women who was more than happy to talk to us and look in our eyes.

Then we helped a less active member move around their whole house.  They got a new piece of furniture and they needed help figuring out where to put everything and since I have a masters in interior design she asked if we would come over, so we did. We ended up making easy enchiladas with them and eating with them. it was super fun we talked about missions and about families and funny stories. Needless to say you were all talked about! :)

We also taught a Book Of Mormon class this week and that went really well.  The picture is of the board that I did to help people remember what we talked about last time and what we will be talking about this time.

Yesterday We taught relief society and we based our lesson on the talk by President Monson " I will not forget thee nor forsake thee." We passed out slips of paper that had different trials whether they be divorce, wayward child, addiction, health issues, or death of a loved one. We talked about how just because we are having a hard time doesn't mean that we are forgotten or forsaken it just means that we are needing to learn something that we can only learn from this trial. It was a really good one. All the sisters came up and said how much they enjoyed the lesson and how they liked we had the women in the group talking about their trials during the lesson.  We had them answer 3 questions 1. What is the greatest lesson you can learn from the trial?  2. How can you turn it into a blessing?  3. How can you use this trial to bless and inspire other?  So I would remind you to look for the blessing in every trial and know that you are loved and being watched over! "Whether it is the best of times of the worst of times, He loves us and that will never change." -President Monson

Love you all and I hope you have a blessed day!!
